Selling Metals To Us ~ Corporate Buying Policy
From the 3rd December 2012, it became an offence to purchase scrap or waste metals for cash. All transactions must now be made using only commercial means and must present a clear audit trail. Our Corporate Buying Policy reflects these requirements.
We are required to keep both photographic and documentary records of those we transact business with.
J Watson & Sons operate as a regulated business and strictly within the boundaries of current legislation. We reserve the right to refuse to buy items where ‘provenance or ownership’, cannot be completely established.
In order for us to comply with current law, all those from who we purchase scrap metals, must provide identification at the point of purchase.
You will require for Identification Purposes:
A Current “photo-card” driver’s license
Or
Current passport with Additional Proof of your address such as a recent utility bill (within the previous 3 months).
End of Life Vehicles – Scrap Cars
We require the vehicle registration document (Form V5 ), in respect of any vehicles you may wish to be recycled. This will require signing in the relevant section by the authorised keeper, before we can accept delivery.
Client Payments
We can pay you via cheque, direct to your Visa Debit card or by electronic funds transfer/ bank transfer. You will require a current bank account to receive payments from us.
Data Protection:
All data collected as part of our regulated process, is not shared with any third party except for official purposes under regulated audits or inquiries. All data is securely stored in compliance with the requirements of the Data Protection Act. Please see our ‘Privacy Notice‘, page.
